About

Jackie Cappell, Ph.D., C.Psych

I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, with practice areas in Clinical and Health Psychology. My practice serves adults and couples.

I earned my Master's and Ph.D. from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. My doctoral research was dedicated to exploring sexual health and well-being after childbirth. My predoctoral residency at Eastern Health in St. John’s, Newfoundland, involved extensive work in community mental health, providing treatment for adults with a variety of mental health issues, and working with individuals and couples in the Clinical Sexology Program. In private practice, I continue to see both individuals and couples.

Like many of us, I consider myself to be a life-long learner. I am committed to continuous training and consultation. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have been rigorously trained and supervised in evidence-based treatments such as Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Additionally, I am trained in Sex Therapy, a specialized form of talk therapy aimed at enhancing sexual well-being.
